CORPORATE PROFILE

Duncklee & Dunham was incorporated in 1996 to offer the highest quality and most responsive environmental services possible.  Our firm is a small business enterprise, licensed in North Carolina as a professional geologic corporation with projects across the United States.  Based in Cary, North Carolina, the firm offers a team of highly experienced professionals together forming a group that takes great pride in serving the needs of our clients using both traditional and innovative methods.

Duncklee & Dunham is an NCDENR Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch—Superfund Section approved Registered Environmental Consultant (REC) with three Registered Site Managers (RSMs).  As an REC, Duncklee & Dunham is certified by DENR to prepare and implement Voluntary Cleanup Contracts.  Each of our three RSMs has over 20 individual years of environmental consulting experience.

Our primary service categories, which are described in more detail in the following section, are as follows:

·       Soil and Ground Water Assessments, including the use of Innovative Assessment Methods, for all State and Federal Regulations such as RCRA, CERCLA, State Lead Voluntary and UST Programs

·     Brownfields Inventory and Assessment Services for Public and Private Clients

·       Design of Soil and Ground Water Remediation Systems including the use of Underground Injection, In-Situ Chemical Oxidation, and Other Innovative  Systems

·        Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments using the AAI Rule and ASTM Standard

·        Regulatory Auditing, Permitting, and Compliance Issues for all Environmental Media, Federal, and State Regulations

·         Emergency Response follow up Site Assessments

·         Natural Attenuation Corrective Action Plans

·         Community Relations and Public Awareness Issues

·         Landfill Ground Water Assessment Services

·         Expert Witness Testimony and Litigation Support

Duncklee & Dunham believes the use and further development of innovative assessment and remediation technologies is a key to more cost effective remedial solutions.  The use of innovative methods along with traditional methods is helping us overcome one of the biggest challenges we face in site remediation—adequate assessment to overcome site media and plume heterogeneity.  With the shape of the contaminant plume and soil matrix better defined, we are able to effectively target innovative remedial methods.

GIS methods are being utilized by Duncklee & Dunham to more efficiently perform Brownfields Inventories for municipalities that have been awarded US EPA Brownfields Grants.

Furthermore, the varied nature of our staff’s experience brings a higher level of sophistication to our scope of services.  This varied experience is evidenced by our staff having served in the following roles:

·              Regulator in the NC DENR Brownfields Program

·               Private Brownfields Developer

·               Regulator in the NC DENR Underground Injection Program

·               Geology Professor at East Carolina University

·               Regulator in the NC DENR Hazardous Waste Branch

·               Hydrogeologist in the Mining Industry

·               Chemist with Private Analytical Laboratory

Over half of our professional staff has over 15 years of individual experience in the environmental field.   We have three senior staff members with over 20 years of individual environmental experience and one staff member with 35.   All of our letters and reports are peer reviewed by our senior staff, further utilizing our experience on our clients behalf.

The level of expertise of our senior staff is evidenced by their in-house use by some of the world’s leading companies based in the Research Triangle,/Raleigh, North Carolina area.  Duncklee & Dunham currently has senior staff level professionals working in-house at one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies and another at the world’s largest private brownfields development firm.

Additional unique qualities of our firm include the number of long-term clients we serve and the high percentage of repeat business awarded.  We are currently serving three clients who have been under contract with our staff members since the 1980’s.
