Doug Weaver recently attended the 2019 Annual Conference hosted by the Carolina’s Environmental Information Association (EIA) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  This conference was attended by over 75 industry professionals.  Doug serves on the board of the organization and participated in the Multidisciplinary Panel Discussion along with representatives from an abatement contracting firm and a national asbestos laboratory.  Doug is an asbestos and indoor air quality consultant with accreditations in North Carolina and Virginia and has over 15 years of experience in environmental consulting.  This annual conference included a day and a half technical program and included presentations by consultants, contractors, laboratories, attorneys, regulators, building owners, and property managers.   This year’s keynote speaker was Officer Johnathan Frisk with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Lockdown International, who gave a 2-hour presentation on survival during an active shooting event. Presentations at this years’ event also included an OSHA Lead Update, updates on Federal Regulatory Action related to asbestos, as well as presentations by NC DHHS and SC DHEC on changes to regulations and enforcement actions.  In addition, attendees were provided with a special screening of the documentary film Breathless, by filmmaker Daniel Lambo – View the Trailer here! in which he explores the deadly asbestos industry and the largest asbestos waste dump in India.
