Air Permitting

The senior staff at Duncklee & Dunham has experience in the design, permitting, and monitoring of industrial air-emission sources and control devices for Criteria and Toxic Air Pollutants. Facilities for which we have provided air permitting, design and monitoring services include fiber-optic manufacturers, textile plants, chemical refineries, concrete- and asphalt-batch plants, auto-component manufacturers, and furniture manufacturers.

Mr. Rodak designed air-pollution-control device systems for a fiber-optic manufacturer to remove hydrogen fluoride, volatile organic compounds and particulate emissions from chemical vapor deposition processes. His control-device design experience has included technologies such as dry neutralization, baghouse and baffle-box filtration, and thermal desorption.

We have prepared annual emission inventories for Small, Synthetic Minor, and Title V facilities in North Carolina. We currently provide air-quality compliance services for two concrete companies with seven plants in central North Carolina, among other clients.

Our staff’s project experience also includes preparation of stack-testing protocols, design of emission-source capture devices, and technical oversight of air-emissions monitoring from metal annealing, tool-coating processes, research laboratories, and rubber-manufacturing processes. We have prepared stack testing reports and have interacted with regulators in the interpretation of the results and associated permitting modification requirements. We have performed air dispersion-modeling for Toxic Air Pollutants to demonstrate compliance with ambient air levels at compliance boundaries for concrete-batch plants and manufactures of fiber optics, chemical monomers and auto components.

The types of industries/processes for which we have provided air-emission permitting and design and compliance-support services include: fiber-optic manufacturing, chemical adhesives, asphalt- and concrete-batch plants, telecommunications-hardware manufacturing, automotive-component manufacturing, wood-veneer mills, hospitals, and rubber-compounding operations. Other services include air permitting for Small, Synthetic Minor and Title V facilities, dispersion modeling for Criteria and Toxic Air Pollutants, development of MACT and BACT assistance for Title V facilities, and design of control devices.
